Love Is No Fairytale

We were dreaming -
living a fairy tale world, full of
story book romance and Shakespeare
love stories, where every ending was
happy,

And in theory it is a wonderful
place to wander off into within your
head but you must remind yourself
it's not real,

Soon realizing love is not like
what you read in romance novels
or what you see in romantic comedies,

Love is vicious arguments that strip
you to the core and make you want
to weep for hours even if you're not
a crier,

Love makes you hate yourself and
everyone else around you, constantly
questioning whether or not you are good enough
or whether or not you're doing enough,

It's full of constant obstacles and it's
never easy, like what they tell you - and for
you to expect otherwise leads you
down a road of delusion, and will ruin
any relationship you plan on forging.

Our report was great - we could finish
each others sentences, we truly felt that
this was love, but we mistook our childish infatution
for the miserable, soul-draining experience that is
love,

But love is everything, all of the lies and
deceit, all of the cheating, the longing and aching,
it's all worth it in the end. Even when when love bites,
I wouldn't change it for the world.
